Sop for Mba Students Essay

“It is important to sometimes experience failure to completely value success. ” Wallowing in self-pity at that moment I didn’t completely comprehend the strength of my father’s encouraging words, but three and a half years later I am a living example of the same. One of the lowest phases of my life was when after the completion of my undergraduate program in Commerce I applied for a postgraduate program to the UK. My student visa application was denied in December 2008, on the basis of insufficient funds. Admittedly it was very difficult for me to watch my friends claim the future we had planned together.

Yet after the initial frenzy abated it was easy for me to see that it was a half-baked attempt on my end. My reason for applying stemmed more from peer pressure than the want of a comprehensive quality education and it wasn’t just funds that the authorities were not convinced about. Today I look back at that time as one of the biggest learning experiences of my life. A single child I had a privileged upbringing and it wasn’t until then that I learnt the value of commitment and hard work. I am now prepared to take a second chance, this time for all the right reasons, this time with all my heart!

My father, Mr. is a graduate in Bachelors of Commerce and is currently working as an Accounting Consultant and my mother, Mrs. is a homemaker. I am the only son of my parents and my parents have great expectations from me. They don’t want to leave any stone unturned for making my future stable and full of flying colours. On my end I have never tried to let them down. My parents enrolled me in M. T. Jariwala Madhyamik Shala from where I completed my secondary, higher secondary as well as high school. As a child I was very active and stubborn.

After completing my schooling I took admission in Sir K. P. College of Commerce, Surat in the year 2005 and completed my graduation in commerce. Along with my Bachelors program in Commerce I had also enrolled myself for the CA programme offered by “The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India” New Delhi. When my plans to go to the UK for further study didn’t materialize, I decided to undertake practical training as an Articled Assistant with a practicing Chartered Accountant. I cleared the CA Final in January 2012.

I have worked for 3 years under a Practicing Chartered Accountants Suresh M. Patel & Associates, Surat starting from 24th of January 2008 to 23rd of January 2011 as an Articled Assistant. During my articleship, my job profile was related to fields of taxation, accounting, auditing and I acquired practical exposure to auditing financial statements of companies, their taxation and accounting. A natural career progression for me would be to move into the finance department of a global corporate but I realize that to be able to do so I need to hone my professional and personal skills.

I understand the importance of breaking boundaries and going global in order to grow further. I can understand the importance of breaking boundaries and going global in order to grow further. So I started to do research to do my Masters Abroad. After a lot of research, I shortlisted Australia for my destination. I personally consulted a few agencies and they suggested me few countries including Australia and I found some universities in Australia that can offer me a wide selection of courses of my field.

Apart from that, I also noticed that the weather of Australia is warmer & friendly than the other countries. So I found Australia the most relevant for me both environmentally and educationally. What my main lookout was for a good quality education which can fulfil my need to be a master in my field and ultimately can provide me a bright future. The first step then was to prepare for IELTS and I joined IELTS course in February 2012 and scored 7 bands in exam conducted on 31st March, 2012.

To prepare graduates for working in a globalised economy, Murdoch Business School teaches them to think creatively, to ask questions and look for solutions, to enlist the expertise of the team, to keep their eye on the main game whilst not forgetting the overall picture. “- Malcolm Tull, Dean, Murdoch Business School The most important challenge in today’s volatile business is flexibility and adaptability. People with the ability to find innovative solutions to business and policy issues are headhunted for top jobs.

Globalisation has increased the level of business competition but also the available market. This is both exciting and a little daunting. ” I foresee the MBA program as an opportunity to develop my finance and business skills, acquire an international perspective and benefit from interaction with a diverse set of peers. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to grow as a part of the talented and diverse student community acquiring an outlook on the challenges and opportunities of different industries through a diverse network of people.

Some of the subjects I wish to explore at length are Accounting for Managers, Strategic Marketing Management, Law for Business, Organisational Behaviour and Management, Business Finance, Strategic Decision-Making. Through these I hope to develop essential skills in project management, entrepreneurship and innovation, leadership and strategic management, which I believe will enable me to step up confidently into a management role in a diverse range of industries.

I am committed to completing the course within the given duration and have mentally prepared myself for the challenges and difficulties, which might crop up while undergoing the course. My future goals include returning to my country equipped with comprehensive business knowledge and management skills and work for a multinational financial institution or a bank. I believe that one of my greatest failures from the past is today my greatest strength. During my work experience of 3 years I realized that I needed to break boundaries if I had to jump my pay scale and make a steep rise in my career path.

The current pay scale for an accounts manager in my city is around Rs. 20,000 pm and growth is very hard to come by. Even in a small city like Surat competition is very high and I needed to get that extra edge on me to demand more from my bosses. After having gained a good foot hold in the field of accounts I now want to see my self as a manager or starting something of my own . I am very confident of the program that I have decided to Pursue – MBA – opportunities unlimited.
